My fiance actually found this ring http://www.antiquejewelrymall.com/r959.html. Printed it off and took it his local jeweler, with a few changes he was able to get it custom made for much cheaper. His jeweler made the ring itself, but had someone L.A. do the scroll work. It turned out so beautiful. My one request was that he get the wedding band to match the e-ring at the same time, b/c I’ve had so many friends go thru the struggle of finding a matching wedding band. I think just one ring is fine. But I wanted to show you that you can find the antique style w/ a matching wedding band. This site has a lot of options. Happy Searching!! Such a fun time!

You can do whatever you wish….one ring, an engagement ring and a separate wedding band…..even multiple rings you can switch out depending on your mood & dress style/occassion. It’s not your ring(s) that make you married, it’s your heart…good luck.

Edit: I have my engagement ring, my original plain band wedding ring, a stainless steel band I wear about the house because it stands up to chores, and two fancy diamond bands for ’stepping out’ lol….my husband has given me a large prasiolite solitaire which fits the left finger only (my right is a 1/2 size larger), and a large oval dark red garnet, so I sometimes wear those instead of the engagement ring…..and he’s been hinting that Santa might be bringing me a ‘canary’ this year…and he don’t mean a birdie, either lol…….

My friend just opted for gorgeous wedding bands and skipped the entire engagement ring thing! She loves her ring!

So why not just get one ring?

You could also look into getting a custom band created by a local jeweler, made to match whatever ring you get!

It’s entirely up to you. There’s no reason why you have to have a set number of rings – if one ring suits you, then why not? You can also wear your engagement ring on the opposite hand from your wedding ring – they don’t have to go on the same finger.

I see nothing wrong with it in theory, but if you only have one, and it’s a gem, you’ll be wearing a gemstone every day. It’s nice to have a ring that you can wear all the time, so I’d recommend getting something plain for your one ring.

My mother in law has the same idea as you… she LOVES filigree and got a Scott K ring. it is BEAUTIFUL and yes, it will be her wedding ring as well as it has been her engagement ring. Putting a band with an intricate engagement ring is hard sometimes and can be just too much. I have seen pretty sets though helping her to find the ring she wanted… but she choose to use this ring as both and it is great. Do what YOU want! Congrats and good luck!

in this day and age.. you can do what you want. many designers make matching filegree sets.. look online for them. it’s what you want. traditions are fine for some people.. but if you want to make your own traditions.. it’s your family that you are beginning.. go for it! go in and talk to jewelry designers.. the stores.. often they have suggestions that you can use.. or you can brainstorm something.. even completely design your own! go for it… it’s a bit more expensive though.. remember that! congratulations!
